The museum collects, preserves, exhibits, documents, and studies modern and contemporary artworks On 4 May 2023, Istanbul Modern opened in this new building close to its original location in Karaköy. It is designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano of Genoa, Italy. A one-of-a-kind viewing terrace at the top of the building hovers above a shallow reflection pool covering the entire roof, providing a 360-degree view of the Bosphorus and the City. The panoramic view from this unique pool was made on a cold and windy late morning on the 1st of October 2024 reaching from the Asian part to the Galata area, taking Topkapi and all the Mosques in. The original measures 220 x 30 cm.
