Topkapi
Harem – courtyard of the favourites
The Courtyard of the Favourites is the last section of the Topkapi Palace Harem in Istanbul. It was built around the same time as the Courtyard of the Black Eunuchs and served as a residence for the sultan’s concubines and “favourites”. These women, often the most beautiful and intelligent, were the ones the sultan chose to bear his children. The courtyard also features the apartments of the Sultan’s Favourite Consort and the Hall with the Mirrors. The panoramic view reaches from this famous terrace to the Galata Tower. It was created on a cold and windy day in the morning of the 30th of September 2024.. The original measures 117 x 30 cm.
