If you don’t fall in love at first sight in Venice you certainly will with your first ice cream at this Gelateria. This is a must-go destination for all lovers of Venice and ice-cream. When the owner asked me to produce An impression of Gelati Nico with a gift box for his New Year’s guests I was
delighted to oblige.

Gelati Nico is a historical place where ancient recipes are still hand-nmade today. From Peggy Guggenheim to Angelina Jolie, both artists and writers have been fascinated by the views and the 1950s atmosphere, their spritz and especially the ice cream. The most requested speciality which has made the ice cream parlour famous, is the Gianduiotto: a slice of hazelnut gianduia drowned in a glass of whipped cream. It is the final product of a process that has delighted the palates for multiple generations of Venitians and visitors. 26 flavours of ice-cream are offered to be enjoyed while sitting on the terrace looking over the water or by walking along the sunny water bank of the Zattere overlooking the Giudecca Canal).
